When I work with people with various anxiety disorders I often find they have trouble getting out of their head or focusing on what is important to them. They often know what to do, deep down, but are often stuck in their heads so much that they cannot identify and move forward in a direction towards what is really important to them in their heart, and to step back and see things objectively and learn to accept non-controllable situations.

I help people by giving them the tools to be their best selves, such as tools to help them get out of their heads and slow down. I assist them to identify what is working and not working for them currently and in the past; help them identify what areas are in their control and what are out of their control, and if not, what is going on, how to better accept it if it is out of their control, and helping them identify what is truly important to them. We discuss if they are doing things consistent with that or not, and if there are some ways to view things that may be triggering them emotionally so that they become less triggering. I have extensive training in research-based third wave behavioral therapy, including ACT and exposure and response therapy. I have studied dialectical behavior therapy, structural family therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and am an ADHD-CCSP Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Certified Clinical Services Provider.

I primarily work with clients who live in Iowa and New Mexico, using a telehealth format (a secure online platform that you access from your computer). My clients range in age from 12 years old to age 64 and older.

I was on the Board of the Heartland Regional Health Equity Council for five years, where we worked to expand health care through the promotion of the Affordable Care Act for minority and underserved populations. I graduated from the University of Iowa with a Master’s Degree in Social Work.
